In our Wednesday Prayer meetings, we are studying the book of James. God reminds us that to say you have faith and do not do the works of the Father, that kind of faith cannot save you. Genuine faith in God will cause works to take place. Ephesians 2:8-10.
So we can show that we have genuine faith through works of selfless love for others, especially children and the poor.
I have always been deeply moved at the stamina of many parents whose children have such a debilitating illness that the parents want to stay by their child's bedside constantly. Some fathers and mothers want to stay by the side of their child through it all. This is in sharp contrast to the many who decide to terminate the life of their living baby before it is even born. We agree with God that the child has value and worth and is entitled to life.
August 7 - 75th Anniversary- Alta Woods Baptist Church

The 75th Anniversary of Alta Woods Baptist Church was celebrated Sunday, August 7th. Gary Anglin, former Minister of Music with pastor Dr. Charles Myers, returned to sing in the service. We still have between 40-50 active members. There are over 20-25 of us who are now residing in Retirement Centers, Nursing Homes or Extended Care Facilities.
All former members were welcomed back as well as former staff members.
We all enjoyed a covered dish lunch following the service in the Fellowship Hall.
